Mother’s Day Message

Well, I just have to say it this way. You’re prayers we’re answered mom in the very peaceful way you departed & went home to be with the lord…… but I miss you so much. I know you’re with dad & buddy looking over all of you’re flock. As I take off on this next adventure you be in my mind & my sidecar as we talked about with a smile on you’re face & silver dollar sized eyes. You could have never gone on my crazy adventures but I know you’d have been following me on the computer. The ride we’d have taken thru D.V. & the valley of fire would have been so amazing. I would have loved for you to see from the sidecar why I do what I do. Luv ya, mis ya, RIP with the lord as I know you are….happy mom’s day……Lori

Back home now.

Welp, made it home all safe & sound. The gs hack nestled in the garage. Do a little organizing in the morning then start the tear down to finish-then prep for Overland expo Mar 16-19 or so, then (hooray) Alaska ’19 adv. Thanks to Randy Owens who also showed up a hour or so after I got home to help with the finish of the gs along with my nephew Cody Pinder! We’ll getter done!

April 28, 2019 update from Randy Owens

“Lori R. Gaskill is a hard line , focused gal when a project gets before her. Katy bar the doors, as she preps and makes her hack all hers. It’s coming along really swell. Awesome GS1200 water cooled ,2015 model . Give this lady two more weeks and it’s a fire breathing , rip snort’n monster of a hack. I rode over from Central CA to assist in all this and I’m about done and headed home tomorrow. We meet again soon for adventure to the Arctic Ocean on these two hacks. Nevada will never be the same with Lori running this hack around😂.”

Say hello to my new sidecar outfit.

Road Trippin’ to pick up new GS sidecar outfit.

ROAD TRIPPIN’: ok all my friends, I’m gettin’ ready to head east this mornin’ to pick up my gs sidecar outfit. If ya happin’ to see a white Ram 2500 that has overlandgal.com on the windows give a shout out. The plan right now is I15n to I70 E. I’ll probably see you b4 you do me. Safe travels to all!

Alaska Adventure 2019 is ON!

This is it, finally this is the year! 42 years ago I started dreaming of crossing the Arctic circle & dipping my toe in the Arctic ocean! The original plan, Alaska adv ’18 had a major bump in the road but Ak adv ’19 is on. Dad, mom & buddy are watching from the heavens but they’ll have the bestest seat in the house. The rest will be able to follow me here on Overlandgal.com, Facebook and through the Garmin link I’ll provide.

Well thingz are ahead

Hello all! The site build continues. Soon to come pix.

Hopefully the build on the Ram will begin soon. Still working out the final details. Some might criticize my choice of a Ram 2500 hd instead of a 3500 or larger. But let it play out & you will see it will make sense. It will have a custom designed aluminum flatbed, a semi custom Alaskan flatbed model telescopic camper. AEV & Helwig suspension, front bumper w/16,500 lb winch & a 16,500 lb in the rear that will serve several purposes, AEV fender cutouts on the front, 40″ tires, arb lockers front & rear, free wheeling front hub conversion etc, etc. The Idea is to build a very capable overland vehicle. With as many sourced products & very little custom fab components. To show that anyone, with a little guidance can build a very capable overland vehicle at a reasonable cost. The goal is to be able to be of grid & eco friendly for 6-8 weeks.

Until next time remember:

Overlander’s we’re all friends we’ve just yet to meet!

The beginning of a dream

What is about to happen with OverlandGal.com is the fulfillment of a dream that has been in the making for over 40 years although the preparation for it started in my youth at about eight years of age in the eastern High Sierras and at the nature center at a local park by where I was raised in E. Long Beach, CA. This is bound to be an exciting and informative journey that I will spend the remainder of my life doing. So sit back, buckle up and prepare for much more to come; starting with my Alaska Adventure 2019 on my BMW r1200gs sidecar outfit.
